Most eBooks can be downloaded or “checked out” to a computer or device. This will require free third-party software. The directions for doing this will differ based on the eBook vendor. See the links below for instructions on downloading to a device for Ebsco Ebooks and ProQuest Ebook Central. Further information on downloading can also be read our libguide for E-Journals and E-books.
If you want to download a book as a .pdf to print or save, there are often restrictions of the number of pages available based on the eBook publisher. While some books can be downloaded in their entirety, many eBook vendors put restrictions on the number of pages that can be downloaded.
In the example below, you can read the entire book online, you can download the entire book to read using e-reader software, you can download up to 25 pages as a .pdf, and you can copy and paste 37 pages. These restrictions will vary by book title.
If you need assistance downloading a book or have questions, please contact a librarian.
